UTE-PALMEIRAS Project
The Thermal Power Plant of Palmeiras de Goiás - UTE-PALMEIRAS will be built in Palmeiras de Goiás county, state of Goiás, in a 240.000m² area and will produce 174MW, being connected to the Southwest-Center-West sub-market of the National Interconnected System. The cooling of the power plant’s engines will happen through a water closed cycle, with no contamination of the water bearing stratum and springs. The treatment of oil and grease leftovers in the tank, substation and warehouse areas will be achieved through impermeable cement contention barriers. The residual material will be drained to an underground receptor box, separating water and oil for the treatment by a specialized company. The air quality will remain within the levels established by the environmental control departments. The generation of electricity may happen in a continuous operation regime, that is, 24 hours a day, with a load factor of up to 85%, due to the need for periodical equipment maintenance stops.
